
The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and ensuring operational efficiency across the company. This position involves managing financial processes, preparing and presenting accounts, liaising with stakeholders, and delivering timely and accurate financial information to support business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive accounting, possess excellent analytical skills, and demonstrate a hands-on approach in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Oversight
· Ensure accuracy and compliance in financial operations, including processing, reporting, and auditing.
· Oversee month-end financial reviews, including General Ledger and Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) reports.
· Prepare and present timely and accurate month-end accounts, ensuring they align with reporting deadlines.
· Submit business composites and provide detailed explanations of financial variances.
Balance Sheet and Reconciliations
· Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly.
· Maintain and update supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts.
Collaboration and Communication
· Liaise with managers across multiple sites to gather financial data, address queries, and ensure clear communication of financial results.
· Act as the main finance contact for cross-departmental collaboration, fostering strong relationships across the business.
Budgeting and Forecasting
· Contribute to annual budgeting processes by providing financial data, monitoring expenditures, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions.
Cash Flow Management
· Monitor and maintain adequate cash flow by tracking bank balances and cash requirements.
· Approve disbursements, verifying payment accuracy and authorizing transfers.
Audit and Compliance
· Support the annual audit process by providing necessary information and documentation and liaising with auditors.
· Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and compliance with legal requirements.
Reporting and Analysis
· Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and management accounts.
· Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
Process Improvement
· Identify and implement system enhancements to optimize financial processes and procedures.
Leadership and Team Support
· Provide guidance and support to other team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
Qualifications and SkillsExperience
· Minimum 5 years of accounting/finance experience in the automotive sector or a comparable industry.
· Strong experience in financial reporting, variance analysis, and reconciliations.
Technical Skills
· Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Pinewood DMS is a plus.
· Strong knowledge of corporate finance principles, accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.
Analytical and Communication Skills
· High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
· Proven ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
