Polestar has been Volvo's performance racing car company since 1996 formerly known as 'Flash Engineering' later to be rebranded in 2005 to 'Polestar'.
Alongside producing performance parts and optimisations for current Volvo Cars, Polestar recently have launched their own fully-electric Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 high performance vehicles under their own badge to compete with brands such as Tesla Motors.
In 2018 the Polestar Engineered division within Volvo Cars was announced. This consists of an extra trim level only available in the Twin Engine T8 PHEV variant of the S60, XC60 and V60 models (uk market)
